Why the Official Board is awful.....

I'd also like to add, it's nice not to have any trolls from other teams around. It was too easy for fans like the yankees and the redsox to come and bug us on the "official site". They would come and try to tell us how we made the biggest mistake by signing Burnett and Ryan to big contracts... it just got annoying after a while. I think I m only going to post on the "30 000 posts for your Toronto Blue Jays" thread only because I've made some good internet friends over there.

Yeah completely, but we also had Jays fans going to other team sites bragging about our signings and mocking the other franchises. We dealt with more wrath from other fans over the actions of our fans, that we did with basic trolling. All in all, this is a much more enjoyable situtation.

The main strength of the official board is also it's weakness, there are alot of people who post there, including me from time to time. People there have made alot of interesting posts and threads, but you will get your bad apples eventually with the more people you get. Another thing is people there don't have alot of faith in the mods there (at least for me). I am all for giving people a second chance but how long does it actually take before they ban a person for a good reason???

Not to mention, it's only 24 hour bans. There doesn't appear to be a 3 strike rule or anything. I still check in there from time to time, but only because there are a lot of people on there. Every once in a while there's someone on there that finds some information that everyone else has looked over. That's definitely a positive for that place, but then you get the "pretenders" like grossedout, who simply lie for attention.

I know, it's very annoying, I actually started a thread that is getting some good talk out of people, and than this guy came along... I m going to give up on that board very, very shortly.

It sad because it is the 'official' board, meaning people are likely to go there first before knowing of places like this and da box and Scout. Then people get a very wrong opinion of Jays fans.

Most of the posters on the board now are strictly bandwagoners.

yea, I think the true jays fans, like people on this board, have abbandoned ship to find a better forum, that is made by the fans for the fans. Those are always the best forums, well compared to the official ones.

I think it's a matter of time when someone actually does/says something so horrible that someone's going to take legal action on the place.

Maybe it's time that forums and boards and blogs go thr way of SoSH. Maybe boards should have a try-out board and maybe new posters will have to submitt a piece of writing or biography for some colateral and to determine if their literate.
